Artwork Description

This anthropomorphic painting plays with the similarities between human and animal by representing a hybrid of the two, Katherine. The dress is inspired by an 1864 Victorian gown worn by Nina Dobrev in the TV series called The Vampire Diaries. One of my favorite animal breeds is the cocker spaniel, which is why I chose to paint that type of dog. Katherine represents how humans view their pets as creatures that exist on the same level as them; a pet is not solely considered an animal, but a family member. Similarly, dogs view their owners as being one of them; the human is in a sense, the leader of a dog’s pack.
