Artist Statement

The work “Sundog” is a synthesis of Abstract Expressionism and color field theory. The goal is to represent reality from the visual perspective of dogs and humans.Dogs differentiate objects based on the amount of contrast between light and dark (chiaroscuro). Conversely, humans are sensitive to three colors (red, green and blue) inherent in the retina.
